For an architect building his family home among the trees, plans included lots of windows and a Rollamatic. The barrel shape was requested to contrast the many angular elements in the house. A clean design was requested to enhance unobstructed views of the sky and surrounding trees.
We used curved glazing for the single section barrel design. Special engineering was required to bring two curved panels together with just a single seam at the ridge. Open, the roof helps cool the house on warm days. Closed, it helps trap heat. Either way, the gorgeous views are almost exactly the same.
