Rooftop Rollamatic Adds Outdoor Living, No Extra Height
The furniture on this rooftop deck is taller than the access door.
THE CHALLENGE
The owners of this coastal home wanted to add a rooftop deck, but knew if they submitted drawings with architectural elements that blocked their neighbors’ ocean views, they would be rejected.
ROLLAMATIC SOLUTION
The roof access door had to be above the roofline to accommodate head height for the run of the stair. Installing a low-profile retractable roof allowed the use of a half-height door at the top of the stairs. The family got the entertaining space they were hoping for when this low-height solution was approved.
